 Misi Tagaloa is a 25-year resident of the First District…

born and raised in American Samoa.  He is the CEO of Canopy Communities, which creates, maintains and rehabilitates affordable housing in Long Beach.  He also serves as the Senior Pastor at Second Samoan Congregational Church UCC at 7th and Cedar.

 Misi sits on several nonprofit boards which serve our community, providing housing for seniors, early childhood education, food for the hungry and transitional homes for the homeless.  Misi is a tireless advocate for justice.  In his free time, Misi organizes the Talesilafa’i Pacific Islander Festival, an educative platform where cultural contributions from Pacific Islanders are made.

 Misi has an Associate’s Degree from American Samoa Community College, a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, a Master’s in Business Administration from California State University, Long Beach, and a Master’s and PhD. Degrees in Theology from Claremont.  Misi is also a graduate of Leadership Long Beach - Class of 2016.

 Misi is married to Mareta, they have three children and a mix-breed poodle named Mackie.
